Carrier is pleased to announce that Carrier Transicold’s Vector® eCool™, the first fully autonomous, all-electric engineless refrigerated trailer system, was named a finalist in the Transportation category of Fast Company’s 2022 World Changing Ideas Awards. In addition, Abound, Carrier’s smart building platform, part of its Healthy Buildings Program, earned an honorable mention in the Workplace category. Carrier Global Corporation (NYSE: CARR), is the leading global provider of healthy, safe, sustainable and intelligent building and cold chain solutions.
The Fast Company World Changing Ideas Awards announced today honor clean technology, innovative corporate initiatives, brave new designs for cities and buildings, and other creative works that are supporting the growth of positive social innovation, tackling social inequality, climate change and public health crises.
Carrier Transicold’s Vector eCool system is the first fully autonomous, all-electric engineless refrigerated trailer system, and represents a giant step forward for transport refrigeration. The Vector eCool system converts kinetic energy generated by the trailer into electricity, which is then stored in a battery pack to power the refrigeration unit.
“When our customers choose the Vector eCool, rather than conventional diesel-powered transport refrigeration units, they are significantly reducing fuel consumption, particulate emissions and noise,” said Timothy White, President, Refrigeration. “The Vector eCool system represents the future of refrigerated transport, making a positive impact on our people and planet by significantly reducing our customer’s carbon footprint.”
Carrier’s Abound platform is leading the way in helping people think about buildings differently – starting by thinking about building occupants first. Abound provides confidence that indoor spaces are healthy by gathering performance data from disparate systems, sensors and sources, and presents it in a smart, simple interface so building owners and managers can make quick assessments and confident decisions. The platform provides alerts if air quality levels for temperature, humidity, CO2, VOCs, PM2.5 and radon move outside of a healthy range.
Both solutions support Carrier’s progress in reducing its customers’ carbon footprint by more than one gigaton, while also achieving carbon neutral operations by 2030, as outlined in its bold Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Goals.
In 2021, Carrier’s ‘Lynx’ digital platform was selected by Fast Company as a finalist in the Food category and an honorable mention in the Best World Changing Idea North America category, as part of the 2021 World Changing Ideas Awards.
