Thermo King®, a leader in transport temperature control solutions and a brand of Trane Technologies will be exhibiting at the ITT Hub in Farnborough, UK from 10th to 11th of May. Visitors to the Thermo King booth 1551 in the Cold Chain Hub by TCS&D will learn about the latest innovation that advances clean, quiet and high-performance refrigerated transport for truck, trailers and the last mile.
“Innovation in non-diesel refrigeration is changing the industry enabling operators to reduce their carbon footprint without compromising the cold chain,” said Jon Jerrard-Dinn, area sales manager at Thermo King and Frigoblock. ”As cargo transport is increasing, the industry is moving the needle on reducing carbon emissions and getting ready for the transition to fully electric cargo transportation. We are looking forward to demonstrate and discuss at the exhibition, how existing technology reduces emissions from refrigeration systems in vans, trucks and trailer vehicles powered by virtually any fuel source.”
Spotlight of Thermo King’s exhibition at the ITT Hub will be on the UK’s first trailer featuring Advancer AxlePower energy recovery system to start operations with Turners (Soham) Ltd, one of the largest privately owned transport companies in the UK. Advancer AxlePower was developed in partnership with BPW Bergische Achsen KG, and is a fully integrated, tractor independent system that combines BPW’s ePower axle with Thermo King refrigeration unit and power management technology. AxlePower’s smart energy generating system delivers the power needed to run the trailer refrigeration unit by converting energy recovered by the trailer’s axle during the vehicle’s routine operation.
The possibility to capture and reuse energy makes the Advancer AxlePower system an ideal solution to future-proof and increase the sustainability of all types of trailer journeys. With silent running and no CO2 emissions from the refrigeration unit when operating from the battery-pack, this technology allows customers to sustainably run long-haul and inner-city deliveries, including in Ultra-low Emission Zones (ULEZs) and low noise urban areas.
Thermo King’s exhibition will also highlight the electric DAF LF vehicle equipped with the next generation Frigoblock FK2 unit and operated by Brakes, the UK’s leading foodservice provider and a Sysco company. The 100% electric Frigoblock FK2 units are compatible with battery-powered vehicles and leverage connectivity, operational insights and efficiencies needed to truly drive clean, low emission distribution practices in cities today.
Integrated telematics thanks to the Thermo King BlueBox, provides the fleet operator with full, 24/7 visibility of the unit’s operation, remote monitoring, and proactive control. This allows customers like Brakes to track their unit’s operation at any time, and clearly demonstrate the temperature set points across every journey.
